William Grueb started his musical career as a pianist at a young age. Upon graduating high school, William went to the University of Rhode Island and received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance, and returned to receive his Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance.
Upon completion of his Master’s Degree at URI, William enrolled in the Piano Technology program at the North Bennet Street School in Boston, Massachusetts. During the summer between years one and two of the Piano Technology program, William served as a piano technician fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox, Massachusetts and was able to tune pianos for composer John Williams, pianist Emmanuel Axe, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. William completed his Piano Technology studies at the North Bennet Street School in June of 2011 and that same month became a staff piano technician for M. Steinert & Sons in Boston. He retained his position with M. Steinert & Sons through July 2019.
William currently works as a freelance piano technician for public and private schools, churches, and individual clients in Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In August 2019, William joined the Music & Theater Arts team at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as Lead Piano Technician with a number of pianos and harpsichords under his care.
